Once upon a time in a small, sunny town, there lived a jolly man named Corn. Now, you might think it’s a bit odd for someone to be named after a vegetable, but Corn was quite proud of his unique name. He was a human daddy with a big, friendly smile and a laugh that filled the room.
One bright Saturday morning, Corn decided it was time to visit the grocery store. He wore his favorite yellow hat, which made him look a bit like a corn cob, and off he went. As he walked through the doors of the store, he cheerfully said, “Hello, sunshine!” to everyone he met.
First, he met Mrs. Appleby, who was choosing some apples. “Hi, Mrs. Appleby! Looking for the juiciest apples today?” Corn asked with a grin.
“Oh, hello, Corn!” Mrs. Appleby replied. “Yes, I am. My grandkids are coming over, and I want to make them a delicious apple pie.”
“That sounds delightful! If you need help reaching the top shelf, just let me know,” Corn offered.
Next, Corn strolled down the cereal aisle and bumped into Mr. Oats. “Good morning, Mr. Oats! How’s your day going?” Corn asked.
“Morning, Corn! I’m just picking out some cereal for breakfast. My kids can never decide which one they want,” Mr. Oats chuckled.
Corn laughed and said, “I know what you mean! It’s like a cereal adventure every morning.”
As Corn continued his journey through the store, he greeted everyone with a warm hello. He met the baker, Mrs. Wheat, who was arranging some freshly baked bread. “Hello, Mrs. Wheat! Those loaves look extra fluffy today!”
“Why, thank you, Corn! Would you like to try a sample?” Mrs. Wheat offered, handing him a small slice of bread.
“Mmm, delicious! Thank you!” Corn exclaimed, his eyes lighting up with joy.
Corn then made his way to the vegetable section, where he felt right at home. He greeted the little carrots, the round tomatoes, and the crisp lettuce with a friendly nod. “Hello, my veggie friends! You all look so fresh and colorful today!”
As he picked out some vegetables for his dinner, he heard a small voice say, “Excuse me, Mr. Corn.”
Corn turned around and saw a little girl holding her mother’s hand. “Hello there! How can I help you?” Corn asked with a gentle smile.
The little girl looked up at him with big eyes and said, “I lost my teddy bear. Have you seen it?”
Corn’s heart melted. “Oh, no! Let’s find your teddy bear together. What does it look like?”
“It’s brown and fluffy, and it has a red bow tie,” the little girl replied, looking a bit worried.
“Don’t you worry, we’ll find your teddy bear,” Corn reassured her. Together, they searched the aisles, asking everyone they met if they had seen the missing teddy bear.
Finally, when they reached the checkout counter, they saw the teddy bear sitting on top of a pile of shopping bags. “There it is!” the little girl exclaimed, her face lighting up.
“Great job! Here’s your teddy bear, safe and sound,” Corn said, handing it to her.
“Thank you, Mr. Corn! You’re the best!” the little girl said, hugging her teddy bear tightly.
As Corn finished his shopping and walked home, he felt happy and content. He had made new friends, helped a little girl, and enjoyed a lovely day at the grocery store. From that day on, everyone in town knew that if they ever needed a helping hand or a friendly smile, they could count on Corn, the human daddy with the heart of gold.
And so, Corn continued to spread joy and kindness wherever he went, always saying hi to everyone he met.
- Why do you think Corn likes to say hi to everyone at the grocery store?
- What would you do if you were Corn and saw someone who needed help in the store?
- Can you name three types of fruits or vegetables Corn saw at the grocery store?
